“Use of electronic medical records (EMRs) is being promoted and funded across Canada. There is a need to consistently assess the use of those EMRs. This paper outlines an EMR adoption framework developed by the University of Victoria’s eHealth Observatory. It assesses provider adoption of an EMR in office-based practices across 10 functional categories. Assessments across practices can be compared and collated across regions and jurisdictions. A case study is presented in the paper that illustrates how the EMR adoption framework has been used over time with an office to help them assess and improve their EMR use.”
