This 2011 publication from Canada Health Infoway looks at the future of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in Canada. Canada has invested significant amounts of time, money, and resources into making EHR’s a part of its healthcare system. EHR’s are providing individuals with greater access to information about their own personal health profile, while also reducing risk of harm to patients as doctors are able to cross-collaborate across boundaries in new and valuable ways. Additionally, there are numerous cost benefits to be had from EHR’s due the the decrease in redundant data creation and storage, and the ease of record access across departments.
