The health care industry is on the verge of an efficiency revolution as techniques such as kaizen which were developed for the manufacturing sector and are designed to reduce waste and increase value through small improvements are applied to hospitals. However, not all health care professionals have bought into the new efficiency measures and believe that human health care and patient interactions are too complex to be standardized.
